Chief Executive Officer
Anne Isherwood was appointed the CEO from September 2018 whilst remaining headteacher at Three Towers AP Academy. She has almost thirty years teaching experience having worked in several areas of the North West and East Midlands before joining the senior leadership team at Hawkley Hall High School in January 2005. Her work at Hawkley contributed to the positive change in ethos which helped the school on its journey towards outstanding success. She helped develop the Inclusion Faculty and was instrumental in embedding the inclusive ethos that pervades the school, recognised when the school became the first in the North of England to achieve The Inclusion Quality Mark. She was the Lead Professional when the school was recognised as a Lead Behaviour School by the DfE in 2011, as well as the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
A specialist in working with challenging and disaffected students, Anne was appointed headteacher of Wigan’s Pupil Referral Service in September 2012 and began a three year secondment to the local authority. Tasked with restructuring and relocating the provision to form Three Towers, she is experienced in leading change. Three Towers joined the Trust in 2015 and secured an Outstanding judgment in its first Ofsted Section 5 inspection in February 2018.
Anne holds an MA in Educational Leadership and Management and NPQH. She is currently completing NPQEL.
Chief Finance Officer
Gill Goulding joined Hawkley Hall high School in 2006 having enjoyed a successful career working at manager level in the banking and legal costs sectors for more than twenty years. She held the posts of Finance Officer/Office Manager and Business Manager prior to appointment to the role of Trust Business Manager (now Chief Finance Officer) in September 2013. Gill is responsible to the Trust Board for the effective governance and performance of financial matters across the Trust. She supports the Trust and its establishments in meeting all of their financial obligations. Gill has extensive experience of working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders across both private and public sectors. Adept at financial planning and management, Gill has used research, analysis and negotiation skills to successfully contribute to the Trust’s drive for continuous improvement for its students.
She has Certificate of School Business Management (CSBM) and Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) accreditation.
Hayley Robinson joined Hawkley Hall High School in 2013 after managing a HR Shared Service for a large support services company in the private sector. She has over ten years experience working in HR, with the vast majority of her experience focused on providing advice on a wide variety of HR issues and managing many complex absence, grievance, disciplinary and capability issues.
In 2017, Hayley was appointed as Human Resources Manager for the Rowan Learning Trust. She works closely with senior leadership teams, offering guidance and support with employee relations, change management, organisational reshaping, redundancy, performance management and organisational development. In addition, Hayley provides specialist advice on Conditions of Service for School Teachers in England and Wales (Burgundy Book), Local Government National Agreement on Pay & Conditions of Service (Green Book) and TUPE transfers.
Hayley regularly meets with recognised trade unions, promoting good industrial relations and the fair treatment of staff through the RLT Joint Consultation and Negotiation Committee (JCNC). Hayley is a qualified Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and is currently completing a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management.
Director of Operations
John Robinson was appointed to the role of Director of Operation in 2018 to oversee business continuity capital projects, ICT strategy, premises management and marketing. He has worked in the IT sector for over ten years, joining Hawkley Hall High School in 2006. In 2012, John joined the Rowan Learning Trust central team as Information Systems Manager, with a remit to establish consistent, robust IT systems to aid teaching, learning and administrative functions across all schools in the Trust. John has extensive experience of working with schools to align technology with teaching & learning, working with senior leaders and key stakeholders, with a core focus on improving standards and achieving value for money. John has also led on major projects, including extracting schools from managed services. John holds a BSc (Hons) in Information Systems, an MSc in Educational Leadership & Management and is a qualified PRINCE2 practitioner for project management.
Phil Rimmer was appointed Headteacher at Hawkley Hall High School in 2017 having joined the senior leadership team in 2006. Prior to his current role he was the Trust’s first Director of Education working closely with the previous CEO, the Trust Business Manager, Director of Operations, Headteachers in the trust and the wider school improvement team. He has a wealth of experience in school improvement and has co-ordinated, and led, the support for more than twenty schools, demonstrating significant impact. He was a member of the DfE Teacher Workload: Data Management Review Group and was part of the writing group for the NLE toolkit.
Phil holds an MSc in Educational Leadership and Management, the National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership (NPQEL) and National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).
