Michael Gaskill

Michael is the headteacher at Marus Bridge Primary School. He has twenty years of senior leadership experience in primary schools. Michael has taught across the whole primary age range and had headships in St. Helens and Salford prior to his current post in Wigan. He led his previous school to an outstanding Ofsted judgement in 2007. In 2012, leadership and pupils’ outcomes at Marus Bridge were judged outstanding.

Since then Michael has led the school in the further improvement of outstanding teaching and learning and a rich, inspiring curriculum featuring the unique Bridge Builders Graduate Award Scheme. He became an Ofsted inspector in 2015.He worked for Ofsted as an Associate Inspector and took part in several Section 8 inspections and he is now a Team Inspector on Section 5 inspections.

Michael is a Local Leader of Education and has a Masters’ Degree in Educational Leadership. He has had significant impact supporting a number of schools across the North West. His subject expertise is in English, history and primary mathematics.

Michael is a father of three children. He is passionate about learning and the potential for educators to inspire children and adults of all ages and backgrounds.
